Larry Margolis is the owner and managing partner of a litigation law firm located in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan. Prior to starting his own firm, Larry was a partner in Smith, White, Sharma & Halpern, a general litigation law firm located in Atlanta, Georgia, where he clerked while at Emory Law. After law school, Larry was hired as an associate at the firm, and soon rose to be a partner. As lead or co-counsel in dozens of civil and criminal trials, Larry soon focused his practice in the areas of criminal defense, personal injury, and immigration-related deportation or criminal cases. In the fall of 2007, Larry relocated to Ann Arbor, Michigan, his original hometown, and he has continued to generate a record of success for his clients.

Nathan Lumbard is a Senior Paralegal at Margolis & Cross. His path to the legal field is both unique and inspiring. While incarcerated, Nathan successfully represented himself in a civil rights lawsuit against the St. Joseph County Jail. His legal skill and perseverance caught the attention of Federal Magistrate Judge Ray Kent, who, at the conclusion of the case, encouraged Nathan to attend law school. Judge Kent offered him a piece of advice that Nathan credits with helping to turn his life around: “Stay on the path you find yourself on today until someone tells you to stop—then keep going.”
Nathan’s legal acumen also caught the attention of Margolis & Cross, who, recognizing his talent and potential, encouraged him to join the firm. Working under the mentorship of attorney Ian Cross, Nathan earned his degree in Legal Studies from Purdue University and plans to attend law school in the near future.
At Margolis & Cross, Nathan plays a vital role in case management, litigation strategy, and trial preparation. He conducts legal research, drafts pleadings and motions, assists in depositions, and collaborates with attorneys to develop case strategies. He also meets with clients to gather information and ensure they remain informed and engaged throughout the legal process.
Outside of his legal work, Nathan is an aviation enthusiast and is working toward obtaining his private pilot’s license.

Caroline Oster is a Legal Assistant with Margolis & Cross. She studied Cognitive Science and French at the University of Michigan, where she was a 4-year student of the Residential College. Caroline was previously a Docent at the University of Michigan Museum of Natural History. She is passionate about serving her community through her work at Margolis & Cross. At the firm, Caroline drafts filings, communicates with clients, and maintains files. Outside of the legal world, Caroline enjoys music and the performing arts.

Blake Waldman is a Legal Tech Analyst at Margolis & Cross, where he leverages a robust blend of technical expertise and legal insight to enhance the firm’s operations. Passionate about the intersection of data science, coding, and law, Blake has developed a range of innovative coding solutions—including web scraping tools and other automation techniques—to streamline legal research and improve overall efficiency.
Blake earned his Bachelor of Science in Management with a dual focus on Finance and Data Science from Case Western Reserve University, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and holds a Master of Business Analytics from the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business. Committed to advancing the firm’s capabilities, he is dedicated to harnessing his analytical skills and technical acumen, and he looks forward to pursuing law school in the near future.
